Fugitive Russian Drug Dealer Arrested in Pattaya Condominium

Thai Immigration Police have arrested a fugitive Russian drug dealer in Pattaya, who had been on the run since early 2010 after he was convicted of serious drug offences in his home country and decided to flee to Thailand to avoid imprisonment.
Andrey Kozlov, 30, was arrested in his room at the Baan Suan Lalana Condominium Complex on Soi Chayapruek in Jomtien after Interpol had notified Chonburi Immigration Police that the fugitive Russian, who "confessed that he was a major drug dealer in Russia," was residing somewhere in Pattaya after fleeing from Russia in February 2010.
During questioning, Mr. Andrey insisted that he was unable to understand English and refused to comment much on the case apart from confirming his identity. He merely stated that he "only left home at night-time to avoid being spotted by police during the day." He also confirmed that "after the Russian government had issued an arrest warrant, he fled the country and hid in Pattaya."
Mr. Andrey will now be subject to extradition procedures and has temporarily been transferred to the Immigration Detention Center in Bangkok
