Iranian Arrested for Drug Production in Rented Bangkok Condo

An Iranian national has been arrested by Pattaya police for producing Crystal Methamphetamine, commonly known as “Ice”, in his rented apartment in a Bangkok condominium.
According to the police, the Iranian suspect, identified as 38-year-old Ahmad Hassan Ghashgaei, was arrested in his rented condominium room on the outskirts of Bangkok while he was allegedly producing Ice. Except for over one kilogram of the drug, police also seized various equipment and chemical substances used for producing Crystal Methamphetamine in his room. Also found were "bottles thought to contain a liquid form of the drug, which police suspect may have been brought into Thailand by the suspect with the intention of reducing it to a crystalline form." Police believe the suspect would later sell the drugs on to "customers in Bangkok and Pattaya."
The arrest was made after "police in Pattaya had apprehended a Thai woman with 0.18 grammes of 'Ice' in her possession." The woman allegedly confessed that she had bought the seized drugs from Mr Ghashgaei, who she claimed was also "producing 'Ice' inside his apartment."
Mr. Ghashghaei has now been charged with production and sale of a class 1 drug and is thought to be part of a larger foreign drug production operation which is now being looked into by Pattaya Police
